Giorgia Bel

Giorgia Bel (b. 1990) is a self taught artist who began painting in 2015 during a period of illness. What began as a means of coping became a profound passion.

Bel's practice is grounded in memory, dream, and a tender, melancholic connection to place. With skeletal trees and Rothko-like washes, her landscapes blend the seen and the imagined, guided by a philosophy of art as medicine.

“Painting has always brought me peace. It worked as medicine during a time that was really scary as I navigated ill health in the early days. I hope the viewer feels the work’s lightness and that it conveys a sense of peace.”
